Prof. Dr.
Alper Fındıkçıoğlu

Prof. Dr. Alper Fındıkcıoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1973. He completed his primary education at Erzincan İnönü Primary School, and his secondary and high school education at Erzurum Anatolian High School. Between 1992 and 1998, he completed his medical education at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, and then completed his residency at Istanbul Dr. Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital between 1998 and 2003. Following his specialist training, he worked as a thoracic surgery specialist at the same clinic for one year.

After completing his military service at Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 2004–2005, he began his academic career in 2005 as a lecturer in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine. He received the title of associate professor in 2014 and professor in 2022.

Throughout his academic career, he has made active contributions to both education and patient care processes; he held the positions of Head of the Thoracic Surgery Unit (2006–2024) and Assistant Chief Physician (2016–2024) at Başkent University Adana Practice and Research Center.

As of 2024, he continues his professional career within Acıbadem Hospital.

Scientific Studies and Academic Contributions

Prof. Dr. Fındıkcıoğlu has taken part in numerous scientific projects in the field of thoracic surgery, and has served as both principal investigator and researcher especially in studies focusing on malignant pleural effusions, analgesia techniques, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), patient comfort after thoracotomy, and cost-effectiveness analyses.

His studies on the clinical significance of immunological markers in non-small cell lung carcinomas have also found a place in the literature. Scientific ethics, clinical contribution, and patient safety have been taken as the basis in his projects.

Prof. Dr. Fındıkcıoğlu adopts an evidence-based and patient-oriented approach that follows technological developments in thoracic surgery. He is especially experienced in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, minimally invasive interventions, postoperative pain control, and methods that increase patient comfort. In treatment planning, he takes ethical, scientific, and individualized medical decisions as the basis.
